Tel Aviv Municipality

The service complex, 2009

The Tel Aviv City Hall was built in the fifties of the last century. The building, designated as a conservation building, is one of the pieces of the city's history, and at the same time should provide a variety of services to its residents. The desire to insert a designed and contemporary space, which provides advanced services, within the building that preserves the city's heritage, was the starting point for us.

The collaboration between the members of the multidisciplinary team working in the studio allowed us to create a conceptual space that fundamentally changes the experience of visiting and waiting in a public body. The waiting area was designed as a system of small living rooms, which instill a homely and pleasant feeling, and give residents a sense of personal attention. The city's heritage wall and the vision wall, where the future plans of the municipality are presented, complete the design line in the waiting area, and strengthen the sense of belonging and partnership of the residents.

The decorative-technological element we designed for the service counters expresses an advanced service concept, based on efficiency and shortening the waiting time. The use of LED lighting in different colors is intended to create a distinction between the types of services provided at each counter, and the system we created allows the shift manager to regulate the load by means of a renewed "painting" of the counter, which changes the type of service provided there.
